“Pain: Reality and Challenges” on the Third Scientific Day at the Faculty of Nursing at Al-Ahliyya Amman University
Her Royal Highness Princess Alia Tabba’ patronized the Third Scientific Day of the Faculty of Nursing at Al-Ahliyya Amman University entitled “Pain: Reality and Challenges”, in collaboration with Jordan Pain Association. The scientific day was commenced with the rendition of the national anthem and reciting verses from the Holy Quran. The Faculty presented its discussion on pain suffering and how to mitigate or reduce it by a group of researchers of Jordan Pain Association and King Hussein Cancer Center. HE Prof. Dr. Maher Saleem welcomed Her Highness Princess Alia Tabba’ and all the participants in this conference, expressing his pleasure with receiving Her Royal Highness, the honorary president of Jordan Pain Association. Dr. Saleem conveyed his pride in hosting these scientific meetings, which enrich scientific movement and exchange of experience, and join researchers in the field of nursing and health care, which reflects positively on the health sector. The University is keen to develop the nursing profession in accordance with its philosophy to create an educated nursing generation that is aware of the next stage and create professionally distinguished students that have the honorable qualities of the profession to serve the nation and provide it with nurses who are able to provide high quality health care to meet the needs of the health sector in the Kingdom. The Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, Dr. Ghaleb Erekat, noted that nursing is an international scientific profession. Those involved in this industry have specific characteristic and competencies, he noted. He added that Nurses constitute a part of the health team who works comprehensively and in harmony in order to provide health care. Dr. Erekat asserted that given the need for this humanitarian profession, AAU decided to establish the Faculty of Nursing in 2005. The University aimed to provide high-efficient nursing cadres who can keep pace with the rapid progress in health services fields and prove their ability to work constructively and develop the institutions which they join in the labor market. Nursing is an essential component of health and medical work and health facilities. Artist Nabil Sawalha performed a play on pain and its treatment by laughter. At the end of the meeting, Prof. Dr. Maher Saleem and Her Royal Highness toured the University facilities and reviewed the latest teaching aid provided by the University to the students. Dr. Saleem presented a shield to Her Royal Highness Princess Alia Tabba’, who in turn expressed her gratitude to the University administration for their warm welcome and wished the University a successful scientific day.
