Below are some frequently asked questions with answers that best reflect the current status of Al-Ahliyya Amman University (AAU). 

It is possible to accept the equivalence of all subjects without exceeding 66 credit hours covered at the previous college/university if they are aligned with the subjects offered at the university.

Based on the decision of the Ministry of Higher Education, a student is entitled to register a maximum of 18 credit hours in the first and second semesters, 21 credit hours if the student is expected to graduate, 10 credit hours for the summer semester as a maximum, and 13 credit hours if the student is expected to graduate at the end of the summer semester.

According to Article 14 in the list of instructions for granting a bachelor's degree, a student is subject to receive an academic warning if he/she obtains a cumulative average of less than 2 in any of the semesters except for the summer semester.

A graduating student is only allowed to register for a maximum of two alternative courses during their final semester if one of the courses is not offered or there is a time conflict with another course after coordinating with his/her academic advisor to complete the graduation requirements.

A cumulative GPA of at least 2 is required to complete graduation requirements.

The language of instruction is English. However, there are various courses taught in Arabic based on their nature.

  • 30 marks for the mid-semester test.
  • 40 marks for the final test.
  • 30 marks for participation.

All marks are distributed differently according to the nature of the course. Details are explicitly explained in the course plan that is shared with all students on VClass.

The student is denied entry to the final test and shall not receive a grade for the course if the percentage of absence without an excuse exceeds 15%.

The course can be dropped at a complete financial loss.

Yes, there are specific dates for all academic procedures such as registration, postponement, transfer, etc. Therefore, students must follow the university calendar, website, and bulletin boards to keep track and stay informed of the constant announcements made by the Admission and Registration Department.

Students must register for courses each semester, otherwise, they will be considered discontinued. Accordingly, they will be expected to submit a request to postpone a semester, with the exception of the summer semester.

It is a modern educational system where two-thirds of the course is available in the classroom, and one-third of the course is delivered electronically through VClass or MS Teams. Accordingly, instructors are provided with various tools to be able to deliver online interactive lectures, tests, homework…etc.

Note: In the absence of either certificate, students admitted to the master's program must register for the English language proficiency tests (1 and 2) immediately after joining the program.

The GPA of university students must be good or above. According to the Ministry of Higher Education guidelines, only 10% of Jordanian students and 15% of non-Jordanian students with acceptable GPAs will be eligible to enroll.

  • Students who wish to enroll in master's programs through the cultural attachés must present proof of their scholarship or a no objection certificate.

Placement tests (Arabic language skills, English language skills, and computer skills) are given only once during the first semester of university enrollment. If students fail the test, they will be required to register and pass recorded remedial courses whose credit hours are not part of the major’s study plan.

  • The student must be non-Jordanian.
  • The student must submit a summons to the president of the university.
  • The student must pay for all the credit hours registered for the semester.

  • Loss of 10% of the value of the required installment - minimum of 12 hours in addition to the student enrollment application.

Old student(s):

  • A student who does not have a discount and wishes to withdraw from the university before the start of the semester gets a full refund.
  • A student who does not have a discount and wishes to withdraw from the university after registering for courses during Add and Drop before the start of the semester loses the registration fee and 20% of the value of the credit hours.
  • A student who does not have a discount and wishes to withdraw from the university after the start of the semester gets no refund.

  • Microsoft teams (Distance Learning System) is used for instructors to start and deliver their lectures live. Students are expected to attend and be engaged at all times.
  • VClass (e-Learning System) is used for instructors to upload course materials, assignments and exams. Students are expected to find and download the material, and submit their assignments and exams on time.

  • Students must consult the head of the Student Club at the Deanship of Student Affairs to determine the player category (national team - military team - directorate team - clubs of all levels). The discount rates vary between the three in the range (35% - 55%).
  • Students who do not belong to one of the national teams and clubs, after passing the physical and technical examination and committing to practice, participate in a full year at the university will be granted a discount of (35%).

Students must contact the head of the Students Club at the Deanship of Student Affairs in order to participate in community service activities, or simply get in touch with the representative of the supreme committee for Activities and Community Service within the university to inquire about participation in activities organized on campus. Students may also collaborate with any external party subject to pre-approval and proof of submission upon the end of the volunteer period.

Training courses are offered to qualified university students by providing them with professional and personal skills in partnership with civil society organizations to prepare them for the constantly changing labor market, which increases job opportunities and opens up successful career paths.

Students do not have to pay a fee to participate in the courses offered by the Career Counselling Office.

The Career Counselling Office collects the CVs of students awaiting graduation and sends them to various companies, institutions, and organizations that have partnerships.

The Student Services Department receives complaints and suggestions from students through three methods:

  • First: By reviewing the Head of the Student Services Department and filling out a Complaint/Suggestion Form.
  • Second: Through the university's website, where the Deanship of Student Affairs page has an icon for submitting complaints and suggestions.
  • Third: Through complaints and suggestions collected in boxes distributed within the university, knowing that the complaint or suggestion form is available with the dean's secretary in each faculty.

The Student Services Department liaises with faculties to inform them of the number of special needs students present in each department at the beginning of each academic year, and whose needs are listed to accommodate and facilitate any request they may make.

  • The Student Services Department liaises with the concerned authorities within the university to arrange special training courses according to their needs, in addition to following up to provide them with appropriate facilities such as private corridors and others.
  • The Student Services Department also communicates with the concerned departments in the university to facilitate the early registration process and arrange appointments tailored to their needs.
