AAU Signs A Memorandum of Understanding with the Arab Authority of Theater

On behalf of AAU, the University President, Prof. Sari Hamdan signed a memorandum of understanding with the Arab Authority of Theater which was represented by its Secretary General, Mr. Ismail Abdullah. The two parties signed this agreement on Wednesday, 17/4/2019 for the purpose of achieving scientific & artistic cooperation. In his speech, Prof. Hamdan welcomed the guests and pointed out that the University seeks to open up to the academic and artistic institutions at the local and international levels and to keep abreast of scientific developments as well as to conduct continuous updates for its educational programs. He also clarified to the nature of the specialization of Film, Television & Theater Design in the Faculty of Architecture & Design, and explained how it is related to the agreement and its need to link the academic process with practical application and participation in the artistic events, which provides the students with the necessary skills and reflects on the learning outcomes. In his turn, Mr. Ismail Abdullah, Secretary General of the Arab Theater Authority, which is patronized by His Highness Sheikh Sultan Al Qassimi, Ruler of Sharjah/United Arab Emirates, affirmed the readiness of the Authority to extend bridges of cooperation with the University and to provide the opportunity for faculty members and students to participate in festivals and events organized by the Authority. The signing ceremony was attended by Mr. Ghannam Ghannam, the Director of Studies and Publishing at the Arab Theater Authority, and Mr. Hussein Al Khatib, the Captain of the Jordanian Artists Association. The signing ceremony was also attended by Mrs. Enas Al-Hourani, the Director of Public & International Relations, Dr. Amran Hasan, the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Architecture & Design, and Prof. Jamal Ajour, the Head of Film, Television & Theater Design Department along with Mr. Nader Suwaidan, the Director of the Arena Complex.The signing of this agreement comes within the framework of the University openness to the institutions of the local and regional community as well as to the aspirations of the Department of Film, Television & Theater Design in the Faculty of Architecture & Design to build a scientific and artistic partnership with local and international institutions concerned with academic and artistic affairs.The delegation concluded its visit to the University with a round that aimed to acquaint them with the facilities available at the Arena Theater. The guests commended the Arena Theater readiness to host the festivals held by the Authority in the Kingdom of Jordan in addition to the artistic and cultural activities that accompany them.
