The Women's Health Center in Al-Ahliyya Amman University organizes a health awareness campaign under the title: Obesity among Adolescents
In alliance with the objectives of the Women’s Health Center affiliated to the Faculty of Nursing at Al-Ahliyya Amman University, the center organized a health awareness campaign under the title: Obesity among Adolescents on Thursday 8/12/2022. This initiative comes under the supervision and participation of Prof. Eman Al-Nazli, Director of the Women's Health Center in coordination with the lecturer Ms. Evan Sabra, Coordinator of the Maternal Health Nursing at the Faculty of Nursing, with the aim of reaching the local community to empower women in all aspects and different age groups. The campaign targeted secondary school students at Allan Secondary School for Girls, Zay area at the city of Al-Salt, where two nursing students, Farah Mohammad Al-Neimat and Aya Al-Rasbia presented the lecture. They focused on the importance of mainiaining a healthy food lifestyle and increasing water intakes, healthy nutritional practices during adolescence, for its high importance in maintaining body fitness and ideal weight as well as the significance of physical exercising and its great benefit to the body health as a whole and reproductive health in specific. In addition, the students focused on the dangers of obesity and overweight and their impact on the cardiovascular health.
The initiative included taking weight and height measurements to calculate the body mass index (BMI) for students and clarifying the normal and abnormal levels of the BMI. Moreover, questions were directed to the students and multiple competitions were held, which had the desired effect in promoting interest in key health practices as well as giveaways were distributed to the students. The principal of Allan Secondary School, Mrs. Maysoon Al-Zoubi and the teachers expressed their thanks and great appreciation for the wonderful efforts made by the two students, the clinical supervisor, Ms. Evan Sabra and the director of the Women's Health Center, Prof. Eman Al-Nazli, hoping to witness upcoming interactive activities and events.
Porf. Eman Al-Nazli honored the students, Farah Al-Neimat and Aya Al-Rasbia with certificates of appreciation for their cooperation in introducing such a useful awareness campaign for girls at this very important age.
