The Women’s Health Center Organizes an Awareness Course on the Dangers of Smoking for Saudi Nursing Students

The Women’s Health Center at the Faculty of Nursing, Al-Ahliyya Amman University, organized a training course entitled “Empowering University Students with Awareness Skills on the Dangers of Smoking and the Importance of Adopting Healthy Lifestyles.” The course was held in cooperation with the King Hussein Cancer Center, Anti-Smoking Office, and the Saudi Cultural Attaché in Jordan. A group of Saudi nursing students from various Jordanian universities participated, with the aim of equipping them with communication and awareness skills to promote cancer prevention through healthy lifestyles, focusing particularly on abstaining from tobacco and electronic nicotine products. The course, supervised by Pharmacist Haneen Al-Momani from the Women’s Health Center, was delivered by Ms. Rawan Shehab and Pharmacist Mona Mahmoud from the Anti-Smoking Office at the King Hussein Cancer Center. Day one included workshops on healthy habits for smoking cessation and lectures on effective awareness techniques. Day two focused on practical group work, with detailed presentations on health indicators in Saudi Arabia, including smoking rates among males and females over recent years. At the conclusion of the course, the Women’s Health Center received an appreciation shield from the Saudi Cultural Attaché, represented by Reem Al-Barhoumi, Director of Cultural and Media Affairs, in recognition of the university’s efforts in supporting awareness programs for Saudi students in Jordan.
