The Jordanian Universities’ Karate Team earned four Medals in the World Martial Sports Championship

The Jordanian Universities’ Karate Team was able to earn four medals at the closing of the World Martial Sports Championship, which is organized by the International University Sports Federation in cooperation with the Sports Federation of Turkish Universities in Samsun - Turkey during the period 27 – 30/9/2022.The player Mazen Ja’idi from Al-Ahliyya Amman University achieved the Gold Medal in the (under 84kg category) competition after winning the final fight against the Bosnian player Hamzah Torulga with a score of (1 to 0). Mazen Ja’idi started his winnings by playing against the German player Luca Winnghotz in the beginning of the championship with a score of (3 to 1) while he also defeated the Ukrainian player David Shatokin in the quarter-finals with a score of (8 to 4) and the Turkish player Murat Oz in the semi-finals with a score of (2 to 1).Whereas the player Rahaf Abu Ghosh from the University of Jordan won the Silver Medal in the (under-61kg category) competition after losing the final match by one point against the French player Maiva Dario with a total score of (4 to 3). Rahaf started her winnings in this tournament by defeating the Macedonian player Viktoria Zivanovska with a score of (9 to 1) and surpassed the New Zealand player Judy Maribat with a score of (4 to 1) in the quarter-finals, before defeating the Turkish player Aysma Karakaya with a score of (3 to 0) in the semi-finals.Moreover, Ahmad Shadeed from the University of Jordan earned the Silver Medal in the (under-75kg category) competition after losing by preference against his opponent, the Turkish player Inez Bulutt with a score of (0 to 0). Shadeed started his winnings in this championship defeating the Armenian player Davit Makian with a score of (9 to 5) and the Turkish player Irene Accort with a score of (3 to 1) in the quarter-finals, before defeating the Australian player Michelle Durham with a score of (6 to 4) in the semi-finals.Where on the team fighting tournament for the students of universities’, the Jordanian Universities’ Karate Team was able to achieve the Gold Medal after winning the final match against the Macedonian team with a score of (3 to 0). The team was represented by Ahmad Shadeed, Omar Shaqra and Khamis Abu Housa from the University of Jordan.It is worth mentioning that the delegation of Jordanian students, which was formed under the supervision of Prof. Sadiq Al-Shdaifat, Dean of Student Affairs at the Hashemite University and member of the administrative board of the Sports Federation of Jordanian Universities as well as the team manager, Mr. Subhi Sweilem and the team’s coach, Captain Tariq Malkawi had a great impact on this achievement and raising the name of our country in huge international championships for universities through their sincere efforts and dedication into preparing the team and providing all needed support. The President of the Sports Federation of Jordanian Universities and the President of Al-Ahliyya Amman University, Prof. Sari Hamdan, praised this achievement, which comes as a result of the dedicated efforts by the member universities of the Federation, highlighting the Federation's continuous support for all students to participate in international championships that raise our country, Jordan in sports forums held worldwide.The head of the delegation, Prof. Sadiq Al-Shdaifat, emphasized that this achievement would not have been possible without the continuous support of Prof. Sari Hamdan, President of the Sports Federation of Jordanian Universities and all members of the administrative board, in addition to the cooperation, discipline and high level of professionalism shown by our players, administrative and technical staff.
