Culinary Arts Students Gain Insight into Hospitality Industry: Visiting The Ritz-Carlton Hotel

A delegation from the Faculty of Culinary Arts and Hospitality at AAU, led by its dean, Dr. Suzy Hatough, and faculty member Dr. Abdullah Al-Hilalat, visited The Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Amman. The delegation was welcomed by Mr. Tarek Derbas, the General Manager of the hotel. During the visit, several important topics were discussed. Mr. Derbas outlined the professional requirements in the hospitality industry and the fundamentals of successful management to achieve excellence in customer service. The discussions also addressed the importance of qualified human resources in this sector to enhance sustainable growth in hotel investments. Mr. Derbas praised the role of sustainability in the hotel and tourism sector and discussed how the industry could support local initiatives. This visit provided a valuable opportunity for the students to better understand industry processes and to exchange experiences and ideas between the university and the private sector. This contributes to the development of their skills and enhances their understanding of the job market requirements in the hospitality and tourism fields.
