The Faculty of Pharmacy at AAU Organizes a Workshop on the Future of Sustainability in Pharmacy Practice and Scientific Research
The Alumni Follow-up Committee at the Faculty of Pharmacy at our AAU, coordinated by the committee's chair, Dr. Ali Al-Sumaidie, organized an online workshop via Microsoft Teams. The workshop hosted Professor Luigi Minghini, a Professor of Phytochemistry at "G. d'Annunzio" University, Chieti – Pescara, Italy.
Dr. Luigi delivered a lecture titled "The Future of Sustainability in Pharmacy Practice and Scientific Research," which was attended by a group of students expected to graduate in the first semester of the 2024-2025 academic year, in addition to several graduates from the master's and bachelor's programs.
The lecture covered several important topics, including:
• The role of sustainability in developing pharmacy practice, enhancing public health, and preserving the environment.
• The use of plant-based ingredients in sustainable pharmacy and their impact on the pharmaceutical industry.
• The latest research techniques in phytochemistry and how they can be directed to achieve sustainable development goals.
• International cooperation in scientific research and its role in addressing global health and sustainability issues.
The session saw significant interaction between the students and Dr. Luigi, as they posed questions and inquiries about the applications of sustainability in pharmaceutical research and the challenges researchers face in this field.
This workshop is part of the Faculty of Pharmacy's initiatives, under the leadership of Dean Dr. Arwa Al-Khatib, to keep students informed about the latest developments in scientific research and sustainability, and to create opportunities for communication with global scientists and researchers, helping to refine their skills and enhance their academic and professional competencies.
