Under the patronage of Dr. Maher Al-Hourani, Chairman of the Board of Directors at our AAU, and businesswoman Ms. Reem Al-Hourani, the university recently organized an event titled "What If" at Nizar Qabbani Auditorium. The initiative focused on raising awareness about cancer and emphasizing the importance of psychological support for patients. It was conducted in collaboration with Rajwa Guidance and Training Foundation, led by Ms. Fidaa Al-Amleh.
Directed by Prof. Ghaleb Uraikat, Dean of the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences, the event attracted faculty members, students from various departments, and participants from other faculties. It included engaging activities, informative sessions, and medical insights related to cancer prevention and care.
Rajwa Foundation is renowned for its efforts in awareness, training, psychological counseling, and supporting cancer patients, especially children.
During the event, the Department of Optometry offered vision screenings for children, including those battling cancer, while the Hearing and Speech Center provided auditory and speech evaluations. Follow-ups, including the provision of hearing aids or eyeglasses as required, will be facilitated by AAU.
An exhibition was also held in the university courtyard, featuring contributions from several organizations, including Al-Maha Jordanian Dairy, Revolution Ladies Gym, Sebamed, Soskin, Al-Ameed Coffee, Shoman Medical Equipment Foundation, Iman Depot, Medical Distributor Depot, Jump Academy, and the International Association for Eye and Vision Health (IEVA).
Symbolic gifts were presented to children, and plaques and certificates of appreciation were awarded to participants, courtesy of AAU.
The Public Relations Department and the Deanship of Student Affairs played crucial roles in coordinating the event, reinforcing the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences' commitment to serving the local community through health education and medical support initiatives.
