The Director General of the Income and Sales Tax Department Delivers A Lecture at AAU

The Director General of the Income & Sales Tax Department, Husam Abu Ali, delivered a lecture at AAU on the “Tax System and Policy in Jordan” on Wednesday, 20/3/2019. The Director stressed that the Jordanian tax system is ahead of the Arab and regional tax systems due to adopting the international standards in this field. He also elucidated that the tax system seeks to apply international practices in the enactment of tax legislations that take into account the economic and social status of the citizens as well as the financial situation of the state to enable it to provide and maintain services to citizens throughout its geographical area. He highlighted the legal amendments included in the Income Tax Law No. 38 of 2018, which comes within the Department's plan to promote the most important amendments to the law to strengthen the relationship with partners.He said in the lecture, which came within the scientific week at the university: “The Jordanian tax system includes direct taxes, such as income tax and indirect taxes such as sales tax”. He clarified that the Jordanian legislator took into account the economic conditions of the citizen when amending the law. At the end of the lecture, which was attended by the AAU President Prof. Sari Hamdan, the Director General was handed the shield of the University.
