MoU Between Al-Ahliyya Amman University and the Arab Agriculture Forum

Our AAU, represented by its President, Prof. Sari Hamdan, signed an MoU with the Arab Agriculture Forum, represented by its CEO, Engineer Awni Al-Kloub. The MoU was signed in the President's office, in the presence of the Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Dr. Subhiyyah Saifan. The MoU aims to foster mutual cooperation between the two parties in the fields of agricultural development and food security, especially given the growing global demand for food. As agriculture has become a top priority for governments worldwide, it plays a critical role as a cornerstone of the food security system. With the global population projected to reach approximately 9.7 billion by 2050, the agricultural sector is among the most vital industries, affecting millions of lives by ensuring food provision. It also complements other economic sectors, contributes to the gross domestic product (GDP), and provides employment opportunities in the Arab world, playing a crucial role in combating poverty and unemployment. Our AAU, a pioneer in private higher education since 1990, established the Faculty of Agricultural Technology at the beginning of the 2021 academic year. The faculty aims to graduate skilled professionals with knowledge of modern agricultural systems, addressing national, regional, and global challenges. It also seeks to raise awareness of the essential role of the food security system in achieving sustainable development goals. The idea behind the establishment of the Arab Agriculture Forum stems from the belief that the challenges and threats facing the agricultural sector and food security in Arab countries are critical issues that require immediate attention. By bringing together all relevant stakeholders for dialogue and discussion, the forum hopes to contribute to the growth and development of the sector. The forum also aims to create a platform for regular dialogue, involving experts and specialists in agriculture and food security. This will strengthen collaboration among all parties and facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experiences to discuss ways to enhance Arab agricultural development and food security. Additionally, the forum seeks to serve as a hub of expertise, offering recommendations, ideas, and constructive proposals. It will also prioritize learning from the best practices of leading countries and adopting smart and emerging technologies in agriculture, aiming to spread and expand their use. The signing of this MoU comes at a time when the Jordanian government, under the guidance and continuous care of His Majesty King Abdullah II, places significant importance on food security and agricultural development. This MoU is expected to open doors for cooperation with regional countries in areas such as training and organizing specialized workshops on food security and hydroponic technology.
