The AAU’s Lecturer Dr. Fida Abu Al-Khair Presents A Lecture in the Family Protection Department

The Family Protection Department of the Directorate of Public Security hosted Dr. Fida Abu-Al-Khair, the lecturer in the AAU’s Faculty of Arts and Sciences. Dr. Fidaa held a training workshop on “Dial-Up Intervention to Prevent Suicide”on Wednesday, 29/11/2017. Fifteen of the Suicide Hotline workers attended the practical workshop which tackled the risk and safety sources for a person and how to evaluate them. Then, the participants got involved in discussing the methods of providing dial-up assistance, basics of telephone guidance and how to deal with challenges that can be faced with callers. This workshop was based on the partnership principle between the AAU and the Public Security Directorate and the Family Protection Department. This workshop also recognized the exerted efforts of the Family Protection Department in combating and preventing suicides and in launching the Suicide Hotline to prevent suicide attempts. The Suicide Hotline is considered the first of its kind in the region which embodies the sense of societal responsibility.
