The AAU Faculty of Pharmacy & Medical Sciences Holds A Consultative Meeting with Employers
In a distinguished pioneering initiative, the AAU Deanship of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences, represented by its Dean Dr. Ghaleb Erekat and its deputies Dr. Numan Khalaf, Dr. Rana Abu Hweij, heads of its departments and members of its faculty met with a number of leading professional leaders from employers and representatives from private and public health institutions. The meeting drew up the best ties of communication and integration with the professional community through the integration of scientific knowledge with practical life. In the first hand, the aim of the meeting was to reconsider the university plans for all specializations by the following steps: surveying the satisfaction of employers with graduates; studying the extent to which the learning outcomes of the offered academic programs and the courses related to the various professional fields meet the requirements of the labor market and its needs from the point of view of the employers and verifying the effectiveness of the measurement instruments of the students learning outcomes from the perspective of employers. On the other hand, the meeting aimed to establish an effective partnership between the University, employers and private and public institutions to bridge the large gap between employers who felt that the experience and skill of their graduates is insufficient, while the universities consider it good and sufficient. Furthermore, the meeting aimed to build effective relationships to transform research outputs into productive projects and constructive agreements that guarantee students comprehensive practical training for all competencies and skills required to meet the labor market needs. The meeting also discussed the feasibility of introducing some academic programs such as Doctor of Pharmacy and Master of Medical Laboratory Sciences.The meeting began with a welcoming speech by Prof. Suleiman Al- Lawzi, Vice President of the University. Then Dr. Rana Abu Hwij, the Vice Dean of the Faculty presented a briefing about the Faculty of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences and its achievements. The specialists were then divided into five consultation sessions for each professional field. These sessions were chaired by Dr. Hasan Al-Muti, the Assistant Dean, Dr. Naeem Sha’lan, the Head of Pharmacy Department, Dr. Ali Al-A’toum, the Head of Laboratory Medical Sciences Department and Dr. Bassem Marai, the Head of Speech and Hearing Department. The employers who attended the meeting are listed below: Dr. Naji Najeeb, the Director of the International Research Center, Dr. Zeid Al-Kilani, the Captain of Pharmacists, Dr. Amal Al-Omari, Director of the Research Center at Al-Hussein Center, Dr. Wasfi Nawafala, the owner of Al-Lilium Drugstore, Dr. Ahmed Ghazzawi, the Director of Triumpharma Center, Dr. Fawzi Al-Lawzi, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Istishari Hospital, Dr. Muhammad Al – A’bbabneh the former Pharmacists Captain, Dr. Tayseer Yunis, the owner of the Hakim Group, Dr. A’meed Abdulnour, the Director of Biolab Laboratories and Dr. Ikhlas Al-Tarawneh, the AAU Dean of Scientific Research. The meeting was also attended by many professional well known figures in the fields of pharmaceutical industry, research centers, pharmacies, medical laboratories, and hearing and speech centers. The attendees expressed their thanks and appreciation for this pioneering initiative of AAU, which has always support and serve its students to be builders of the nation and messengers of life who are capable of taking responsibility and eager to work and live with high efficiency and aspiration, who are proud of their knowledge, skills and Arabism and faithful to their humanitarian mission. The meeting was crowned by commending proudly the AAU’s graduates who participated as employers for their distinctive achievements including Dr. Zaid Al-Kilani, the Pharmacist's Captain, Dr. Maher Falah, the Regional Director of Jameson, and Dr. Maysam Al-Nisour from the Jordan Food & Drug Administration. The meeting ended with a dinner in honor of the guests at the Holiday Inn Hotel.
