Professor Sari Hamdan Visits Iraqi Ambassador to Jordan

On Sunday, 22 February 2026, Professor Dr. Sari Hamdan, President of Al-Ahliyya Amman University, visited Mr. Omar Al-Barzanji, Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, at his office in the embassy building in Amman. During the meeting, President Hamdan expressed his pleasure at the visit and highlighted the strong fraternal ties between the two countries. He noted that Iraqi students at Al-Ahliyya Amman University constitute a distinguished and impactful segment of the student body, recognized for their dedication, commitment, and academic excellence. He also emphasized the university’s commitment to providing a supportive and stimulating environment that nurtures both their academic and personal development. Professor Hamdan reviewed the university’s growing reputation at both regional and international levels. Al-Ahliyya Amman University ranked 761–770 globally in the 2026 QS World University Rankings and 401–500 globally in the 2026 Times Higher Education (THE) Rankings, and it is recognized as the first private university in Jordan. Ambassador Al-Barzanji praised the university’s high academic standards and acknowledged its efforts to enhance educational quality and strengthen its international standing. He affirmed the embassy’s commitment to supporting Iraqi students studying in Jordan, particularly at Al-Ahliyya Amman University, and expressed pride in their achievements. The ambassador also promised to visit the university soon to deliver an academic lecture, meet with Iraqi students, and assess their needs. At the conclusion of the meeting, President Hamdan presented the ambassador with Al-Ahliyya Amman University Shield, honoring his efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and his continued support for the Iraqi community in Jordan.
