Professor Sari Hamdan Patronizes the First Day of Amman Ahliyya University's 33rd Commencement Ceremony for Second Semester Graduates

Professor Sari Hamdan, Advisor to Amman Ahliyya University, patronized the first day of the University's 33rd commencement ceremony for graduates of the second semester of the 2025/2026 academic year, held on the evening of 14 July 2026 at the Arena Theatre. The ceremony was attended by Professor Ahmad Hamdan, Acting President of the University; Professor Bashar Al-Tarawneh, Vice President; members of the Board of Trustees; deans of the faculties; faculty and administrative staff; as well as a large gathering of graduates' families and invited guests. Graduates from the Faculty of Pharmacy and the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences were honored during the ceremony. The event commenced with the Jordanian national anthem, followed by a recitation from the Holy Quran by student Fares Mahmoud from the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences. Professor Mustafa Atiyyat, Dean of Student Affairs, delivered the University's address, welcoming the ceremony's patron, Professor Sari Hamdan, along with Professor Ahmad Hamdan, members of the Board of Trustees, the deans, faculty and administrative staff, graduates, their families, and distinguished guests. In his remarks, Professor Atiyyat described the occasion as a day of pride and celebration, marking the graduation of a new cohort of students from the Faculties of Pharmacy and Allied Medical Sciences. He paid tribute to the late Dr. Ahmad Al-Hourani, founder of Amman Ahliyya University, whose vision established the University on the belief that education is not only about building knowledge but also about developing people and shaping the future of nations. He noted that this vision continues under the leadership of Dr. Maher Al-Hourani, Chairman of the Board of Directors, whose commitment to excellence, innovation, and educational quality has further strengthened the University's position. He also highlighted the leadership of Professor Ahmad Hamdan, Acting President, together with the guidance and experience of Professor Sari Hamdan, Advisor to the University, whose efforts continue to enhance the University's standing as a leading academic institution at the national, regional, and international levels. Professor Atiyyat reviewed the University's recent achievements, noting that Amman Ahliyya University has been ranked 643rd globally in the QS World University Rankings, placing first among Jordan's private universities and third among all Jordanian universities. He also highlighted the University's placement within the 401–500 global band in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, where it ranked first among Jordanian universities. In addition, the University achieved 32nd place in the QS Arab University Rankings, retaining first place among Jordanian private universities. In the field of sustainability and social responsibility, the University was ranked 28th globally in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings. It also ranked 23rd among Arab universities and 132nd among Asian universities, reflecting its commitment to sustainable development and community engagement. Professor Atiyyat further noted that the University maintained its outstanding performance in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject 2026, securing first place in Jordan in several disciplines, including Computer Science, Education, Physical Sciences, Arts and Humanities, and Engineering. It also ranked first among Jordanian private universities in Business and Economics, as well as Medicine and Health. He added that Amman Ahliyya University has continued to strengthen its academic leadership by maintaining its top national ranking in Hospitality Management for the second consecutive year, while also leading Jordanian private universities in the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities and securing 41st place among Arab universities. Highlighting the University's commitment to supporting national priorities, Professor Atiyyat explained that, in line with the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II to advance technical and vocational education, the University established the Faculty of Technical Education to offer associate diploma programs. It also received accreditation from Pearson to deliver internationally recognized BTEC qualifications in specialized fields aligned with labor market needs and future workforce demands. Addressing the graduates, he congratulated them on their perseverance and determination in overcoming challenges and acknowledged the invaluable support provided by their families throughout their academic journey. Concluding his remarks, Professor Atiyyat reaffirmed the University's pride in Jordan's Hashemite leadership and expressed appreciation for the steadfast national positions of His Majesty King Abdullah II, whose leadership continues to inspire progress, unity, and national development. Representing the graduating class, Sarah Yousef Al-Zibaq, a Speech and Hearing student from the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences, delivered an emotional address reflecting on her university journey and the deeper meaning of communication. She remarked that throughout their studies they had learned not only how to help people hear and speak but, more importantly, how to understand others with empathy and compassion. Drawing on her personal experience as a student from Gaza, she spoke movingly about belonging, gratitude, and the support she received during her years at Amman Ahliyya University. She described the University community—including its leadership, faculty, staff, classmates, and employees—as an extended family that made Jordan feel like home. She concluded by encouraging her fellow graduates to remember that behind every patient is a human story deserving of care, understanding, and respect. Following the graduates' address, Professor Bashar Al-Tarawneh, Vice President of the University, read the official graduation declaration, confirming that the students had successfully fulfilled all the requirements for the bachelor's degree and inviting the ceremony's patron to confer their degrees. Professor Sari Hamdan, accompanied by the deans of the Faculties of Pharmacy and Allied Medical Sciences, presented degree certificates to the graduates and honored outstanding students with awards recognizing their academic excellence. The ceremony was hosted by graduates Ibrahim Khaled Ereikat from the Department of Physical Therapy, Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences, and Tareq Raed Shammout from the Faculty of Pharmacy, who were commended for their professional and engaging presentation throughout the event. The University announced that the second day of the 33rd commencement ceremony will be held on Wednesday, 15 July 2026, under the patronage of Dr. Maher Al-Hourani, Chairman of the Board of Directors. Graduates from the Faculties of Business, Educational Sciences, Law, Agricultural Technology, Architecture and Design, Arts and Sciences, Hospitality and Tourism Management, and Nursing will be honored. The third and final day of the commencement ceremonies will take place on Thursday, 16 July 2026, also under the patronage of Dr. Maher Al-Hourani, during which graduates from the School of Graduate Studies, the Faculty of Information Technology, and the Faculty of Engineering will receive their degrees.
