Professor Hamdan at the Jordanian Society for Scientific Research Conference Reviews the Research Achievements of AAU

Under the patronage of His Excellency Professor Adnan Badran, the twelfth Scientific Research Conference in Jordan was inaugurated on Saturday. The event was organized by the Jordanian Society for Scientific Research, Leadership, and Creativity in collaboration with Al-Ahliyya Amman University, with a large and distinguished attendance of professors and prominent researchers. The conference addressed several key themes: vocational and technical education and the labor market, international legislation and human rights, the innovation-based economy, the future of clean energy in Jordan, and the food industry in Jordan and its role in food security. Professor Sari Hamdan, President of Al-Ahliyya Amman University, spoke at the opening ceremony, welcoming the patron of the conference, His Excellency Professor Adnan Badran, the Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Jordanian Society for Scientific Research, Leadership, and Creativity, His Excellency Professor Reda Al-Khawaldeh, the conference chair, Professor Sameeh Abu Bakr, head of the preparatory committee, the members of the society, and the conference participants. Professor Sari Hamdan then delivered a brief address highlighting the research performance and achievements of Al-Ahliyya Amman University, stating: “Al Ahliyya Amman University is honored to host this distinguished conference. I am pleased to convey the greetings of the Chair of the Board of Trustees, Mr Abd Al Kareem Al Kabariti, and the Chair of the Board of Directors, Dr Maher Al Hawarneh. I am also pleased to present a summary of the university’s path in supporting scientific research and innovation in recent years.” First, the total number of research papers published in the Scopus database has reached approximately 5206 scientific papers, reflecting significant progress in the quality and impact of the university’s research output. In the year 2025 alone, the number of published research papers reached around 1309, confirming the continued growth in research productivity and the increasing contribution of the university to international scholarly publishing. The distribution of research publications for 2025 according to Cite Score classifications was as follows: • 723 papers in Q1 journals, representing 55.2 percent of all publications for 2025 • 373 papers in Q2 journals, representing 28.5 percent • 114 papers in Q3 journals, representing 8.7 percent • 38 papers in Q4 journals, representing 2.9 percent This distribution clearly indicates the strategic commitment of the university to publishing in high impact and globally recognized scientific journals. Publications in Q1 and Q2 together constitute more than 83 percent of all research outputs for 2025, which demonstrates both quality and international reach. Second, the university witnessed notable activity in innovation and invention. Between 2021 and 2025, the number of registered patents reached 72, reflecting a thriving research environment that encourages creativity and practical application of research ideas among faculty members and students. Third, this advancement in research and innovation led to a remarkable leap in international rankings. Most notably, Al-Ahliyya Amman University entered the category of 401 to 500 in the Times World University Rankings for 2025, placing it at the forefront of Jordanian universities and affirming its strong presence on the global academic stage. Professor Sari Hamdan further stated: “These achievements would not have been possible without the tremendous efforts of our faculty members and researchers, and without the continuous support of the university’s senior administration and the Deanship of Scientific Research, which works to build a dynamic research ecosystem grounded in creativity, quality, and international scientific collaboration.” Professor Hamdan concluded: “As we take pride in this excellence, we affirm that Al-Ahliyya Amman University will continue adopting advanced research strategies aimed at expanding international cooperation. We also express our pride in Jordanian public and private universities for placing Jordanian higher education firmly on the global academic map, in line with the aspirations of His Majesty King Abdullah the Second Ibn Al Hussein and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince.”
