Prof. Sari Hamdan Receives Minister of State for Legal Affairs and Emphasizes the Importance of Promoting Legal Awareness

Prof. Sari Hamdan, President of Al-Ahliyya Amman University, received H.E. Dr. Fayez Malfieh Al-Qudah, Minister of State for Legal Affairs, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Osaid Thneibat, Dean of the Faculty of Law. At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Hamdan warmly welcomed the Minister, praising his prominent role in supporting academic and scientific activities. The visit coincided with a scientific seminar organized by the Faculty of Law under the patronage of H.E. the Minister, titled “The Role of the Judiciary in Arbitration Proceedings.” The event is part of the university’s ongoing efforts to enhance legal awareness among students and provide a platform for specialized academic dialogue. The seminar was moderated by Dr. Nour Al-Dabbas, who welcomed the attendees on behalf of Dr. Maher Al-Hourani, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Prof. Sari Hamdan, University President, and the Dean of the Faculty of Law. She emphasized the faculty’s commitment to bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application—particularly in arbitration, one of the most prominent methods of dispute resolution. The seminar focused on one of the key aspects of arbitration procedures: the relationship between the judiciary and arbitration, especially in light of recent legal developments at both national and international levels. The sessions also addressed significant amendments to the Jordanian Arbitration Law of 2018 and their impact on arbitration proceedings. During the seminar, H.E. Dr. Fayez Al-Qudah delivered a detailed presentation on the key legislative changes concerning the judiciary’s role in arbitration cases. Attorney Firas Ghazlan also spoke about the practical challenges related to the roles of the competent judge and court in arbitration procedures. Dr. Fouad Al-Daradkeh, former judge at the Court of Cassation, discussed grounds for annulment of arbitral awards and the oversight role of the Court of Cassation in annulment proceedings.
