Patent Registration of “A Pharmaceutical Compound for Cancer Treatment” by Al-Ahliyya Amman University in Partnership with the Hashemite and Jordanian Universities
Al-Ahliyya Amman University, represented by the Faculty of Pharmacy, announces the local registration of a patent with the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and its filing with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) / Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) Office, in partnership with the Hashemite University and the University of Jordan.
The research team composed of Dr. Ismail Mahmoud (Hashemite University), Dr. Hamdi Al-Nsourat (Al-Ahliyya Amman University), Dr. Walhan Al-Shaer, Prof. Dr. Fadwa Ouda, and Dr. Shurooq Al-Sawatri (University of Jordan) succeeded in filing a patent entitled:
“A Pharmaceutical Compound, Method of Preparation Thereof, and Its Use for Treating Cancer” (WO2025158476).
The research team developed a new hybrid chemical compound created by chemically linking thymoquinone and doxorubicin for cancer treatment. The compound aims to enhance therapeutic efficacy and reduce the side effects associated with doxorubicin, making it safer for healthy cells while maintaining its anticancer effectiveness.
This patent comes as part of the university’s ongoing efforts to elevate the level of applied scientific research in the Hashemite Kingdom and contribute to the development and advancement of researchers' skills.
