 Participation of the Women’s Health Center, Faculty of Nursing, in the Pink October Event at Zai Health Center
                    
                    
                       The Women’s Health Center, Faculty of Nursing at Al-Ahliyya Amman University, in cooperation with the National Center for Women’s Health, participated in Pink October breast cancer awareness activities organized by Zai Health Center at the Military Retirees Club in Zai.
Representing the center, Pharmacist Haneen Al-Momani delivered an awareness lecture on the importance and health benefits of breastfeeding for both mother and child. This effort supports women’s health awareness and promotes a culture of prevention and holistic care in the local community.
The event was held under the patronage of Dr. Akef Mahmoud Al-Sleihat, Director of Al-Balqa Health Directorate, and in cooperation with the Jordan Breast Cancer Program, with participation from a nutritionist, health educators, and in coordination with the Military Retirees Club and Brigadier General Nasser Abu Al-Samen.
The event witnessed wide attendance from officials and community representatives, including Zai District Director Muhammad Al-Qadiri, MP Jamal Qamouh, association leaders, the Civil Defense Director, the Head of Zai Community Health Committee, school principals, and local dignitaries.
Dr. Fadwa Thabet, representing Jordan Breast Cancer Program, gave a lecture stressing the importance of early detection in improving recovery rates and reducing mortality, encouraging women to benefit from free screening services available at approved health centers.
The program also included theatrical performances by Zai School students, scouting activities, and an awareness video explaining early screening steps and sharing a survivor’s story to break fear and stigma.
As part of expanding awareness efforts, Pharmacist Haneen Al-Momani presented a practical session on the benefits of breastfeeding and healthy nutrition for mothers, aiming to support maternal and child health.
Dr. Akef Al-Sleihat highlighted the significance of such events in enhancing health awareness and empowering Jordanian women to care for their health, noting that early detection increases the chances of successful treatment.
The event concluded with honoring participating and supporting entities. It formed part of a series of initiatives by Zai Health Center during October (Pink Month) to promote prevention and early detection culture in Al-Balqa Governorate.
