Mohammad Irshid from Al-Ahliyya Amman University Receives International Mitacs Scholarship in Artificial Intelligence

Mohammad Irshid, a student from the Faculty of Information Technology at Al-Ahliyya Amman University, has achieved a distinguished academic accomplishment after receiving a research scholarship through the Mitacs Globalink Research Internship 2026 program. The scholarship will enable him to participate in a research project titled: “A Metaheuristic Algorithm for Breast Cancer Classification and Diagnosis” The project will be conducted at Thompson Rivers University in Canada. This initiative is the result of the efforts of the Jordan Source delegation to Canada in 2024 and falls within the framework of the Youth, Technology, and Jobs (YTJ) project, which contributed to building a strategic partnership with Mitacs. The initiative provides Jordanian students with the opportunity to undertake a 12-week research experience at several Canadian universities in advanced fields including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, robotics, and emerging technologies. Through this research project, Mohammad Irshid will contribute to the development of an intelligent algorithm based on Metaheuristic techniques aimed at improving the accuracy of breast cancer classification and diagnosis, thereby supporting the medical sector with innovative artificial intelligence-based solutions.
