Military Center for Combating Terrorism and Extremism, in cooperation with Al-Ahliyya Amman University, holds a seminar entitled Social media sites and their impact on Jordan's national security
A seminar entitled Social media sites and their impact on Jordan's national security was held at the Military Center for Combating Terrorism and Extremism on Monday, 27 December 2021 for students of the Strategies in Countering Extremism and Terrorism Master’s Program.Participants discussed several topics, most notably the positive and negative effects of social media sites and their political, social, and economic effects on Jordan's national security, in addition to the norms of using social media platforms and governmental and legal responsibility towards these sites.Commander of the National Defense College, Brigadier General Dr. Awadh Al-Tarawneh, and Dr. Sultan Al-Masad, Dr. Hossam Yassin and Dr. Ahmed Abu Orabi of the Department of Business and E-Commerce/ from Al-Ahliyya Amman University, participated in the seminar. The seminar concluded with several recommendations, the most important of which was the need for a comprehensive national strategy for dealing with social media sites. Such strategy should be reviewed and developed periodically by the Jordanian government, in addition to the need to establish and consolidate community cultural awareness regarding the use of social mediasites.At the end of the seminar, which was attended by the commanding officer and members of the commanding committee at the center, there was an extensive discussion during which participants answered the questions and inquiries of the audience.
