King Abdullah II Honors Jordanian Athletes Who Won Medals at the Olympics and Paralympics, Including AAU Athletes
On Sunday, His Majesty King Abdullah II awarded medals to Jordanian athletes who won gold, silver, and bronze medals at Paris 2024 and Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The King also bestowed upon them the Jubilee Medal in recognition of their achievements. His Majesty expressed his appreciation for the accomplishments of the national teams in both the Olympic and Paralympic Games, emphasizing that these victories are a lasting source of pride for Jordanians.
The ceremony was attended by His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Hussein, Royal Advisor, Chairman of the National Policies Council, and President of the Jordanian Olympic Committee; His Royal Highness Prince Rashid bin Hassan, Royal Advisor and President of the Jordanian Taekwondo Federation; His Royal Highness Prince Mir’ed bin Raad, Chief of the Royal Hashemite Court and Chairman of the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities; as well as other distinguished guests.
Among those honored were two athletes from AAU: Zaid Mustafa Abdul Karim, a graduate student on a full scholarship from the university, and Saleh Salah Al-Sharbati, an AAU graduate. Both were recognized for their achievements with the Jubilee Medal.
Zaid Mustafa Abdul Karim earned a silver medal in taekwondo at the Paris Olympics, while Saleh Salah Al-Sharbati secured a silver medal in taekwondo at the Tokyo Olympics.
