Her Royal Highness, Princess Wijdan Al-Hashemi Inaugurates the AAU’s Events of the Scientific Week

Her Royal Highness Princess Wijdan Al-Hashemi inaugurated the events of the scientific week held in AAU on Sunday, 17/3/2019. This event was attended by the AAU President, Prof. Sari Hamdan, the Vice President, the Deans of Faculties and Deanships, members of the academic & administrative staffs and students. During this celebration which took place in the Theater of Al-Hourani E-Learning Center, Dr. Naser Abu Anzeh of the Architecture & Design Faculty welcomed Princess Wijdan and the audience. He started his speech by talking about the University’s vision and mission consistent with the importance of stimulating and developing the contribution of academic institutions in dealing with national issues of various kinds. Then he added that this can be achieved through research, study and scientific analysis as a main source of the tributaries of community development and a preferred option for the members of our homeland and the Arab brothers where the University offers a variety of academic programs that keep pace with modern developments and the community needs. The organization of the scientific days is a translation of the University’s philosophy and its approach in the continuous development of all scientific fields to improve the students’ standard and to provide the labor market with distinguished competencies. Prof. Sari Hamdan talked about Her Highness Princess Wijdan since she is on artist, professor and a diplomat. She holds a PhD in the history of Islamic Art and worked as a visiting professor at many universities and published many books on traditional and contemporary Islamic Art in both Arabic and English. Furthermore, she is the President of the Royal Society of Fine Arts and the Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Jordan. Princess Wijdan expressed her happiness to visit the University which is her second visit. She stressed that students should take advantage of their university years, benefit from the academic cadre and from the freedom of thinking and configuring logic that the University provide them with. During the celebration, a documentary film was displayed on the AAU march and its offered specializations. Prof Bassam Mahasneh, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering talked about the scientific day of the Faculty of Engineering titled “Entrepreneurship & Innovation in Engineering” which the faculty seeks to achieve through establishing pioneering programs such as intelligent transportation systems. He also talked about what has been established this year which is a research group that is the nucleus of a research center in the field of intelligent road systems. He also talked about the start of establishing another innovation center which also the nucleus of a center that adopts the ideas of students in the field of electronics and robots. At the end of this event, Prof. Sari Hamdan handed Her Royal Highness Princess Wijdan Al-Hashemi the University shield and the audience went to an exhibition that included the works of students of the Faculties of Engineering and Architecture & Design. It is worth mentioning that this scientific week includes scientific days for all AAU faculties. For example, Sunday, 17/3/2019 is the scientific day of the Faculty of Engineering titled “Entrepreneurship & Innovation in Engineering” and the Faculty of Architecture & Design titled “Design & Architecture: Towards a Digital Intelligent Sustainable Environment”Similarly, Monday, 18/3/2019 is the scientific Day of the Faculty of Arts & Sciences titled “Women & Law” and the Day of the Faculty of Law titled “The Experience of Decentralization & its impact on the Local Community Service”.Meanwhile, Tuesday, 19/3/2019 is the scientific Day of the School of Business titled “Entrepreneurship in Business Service” and the Day of the IT Faculty titled “Future Technologies”.As for the Faculties of Pharmacy and Nursing, their scientific day will be held on Wednesday, 20/3/2019. “Successful Women in the Scientific Field” is the title of the Faculty of Pharmacy day while “The Life Quality & the Era Challenges” is the title of the scientific day of the Faculty of Nursing.
