Fourth Scientific Day in the Faculty of Engineering at Al-Ahliyya Amman University titled “Towards Environmentally Friendly Engineering”

Under the patronage of HE Eng. Hazem Malhas, Minister of Environment, the Faculty of Engineering at Al-Ahliyya Amman University held its Fourth Scientific Day entitled “Towards Environmentally Friendly Engineering”. HE Minister of Environment reviewed the environmental situation in the Kingdom and the government's efforts in the field of environment protection, with focus on air, water and the environment themes. His Excellency the Minister welcomed the initiative of the Faculty of Engineering at Al-Ahliyya Amman University for holding the scientific day on the issue of environmentally friendly engineering. This theme identifies broad areas for cooperation among the government, private sector and universities, he noted. The Chairman of the Engineers Association made an intervention in which he talked about the issue of green buildings and the efforts of the Association in collaboration with the relevant government agencies and universities in this area. He said that the Engineers Association supports organizing such scientific days and conferences held by the engineering faculties in the universities. Dr. Sadeq Hamed, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, said that the Faculty of Pharmacy has chosen “Towards Environmentally Friendly Engineering” as theme of the scientific day as contribution by the Faculty in the global and national efforts led by the Ministry of Environment which aim to provide means for preserving our Jordanian environment, with its various elements. He also pointed out to the efforts made by universities and institutions to minimize the effects of environmental pollution. Numerous terms were highlighted which constitute areas of research and studies. Dr. Sadeq concluded his speech by conveying sincere thanks to HE Eng. Hazem Malhas for sponsoring this scientific day, and to Dr. Maher Saleem, President of the University, for his continued support for these activities. The Scientific Day included showcasing products of a number of local companies, as well as student projects, and holding lectures that fall within the theme of the Scientific Day by a group of specialists in this field. At the end of the ceremony, Dr. Maher Saleem, President of the University, delivered the University Shield to His Excellency the Minister of Environment, and to the Chairman of the Engineers Association.
