Field Training for AAU Agricultural Technology Students on Plant Tissue Culture Techniques

As part of the field training program outlined in the curriculum for the Agricultural Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering major at the Faculty of Agricultural Technology, students enrolled in the course received training in the Plant Tissue Culture Laboratory under the supervision of Engineer Tasneem Ali. The students were introduced to the latest agricultural technologies used in plant tissue culture. During this training program, students, expected to graduate in the second semester of 2024/2025, gained advanced and modern skills in plant tissue culture techniques. These skills included preparing the growth medium, handling plant tissues in sterile environments, and monitoring plant cell growth. The training focused on the practical applications of these techniques in improving crop yields and producing high-quality, disease- and virus-free plants, highlighting the role of modern agricultural technology in food security and agricultural sustainability. These techniques, which enable plant propagation year-round, enhance the practical expertise of graduates and equip them to compete effectively in the job market. The plant tissue culture program is one of the aspects covered in the field training course, which involved 160 hours of practical training and 6 academic credit hours. All phases of the training were supervised by Dr. Murad Al-Maaytah.
