Faculty of Supporting Medical Sciences at Al-Ahliyya Amman University Hosts Dr. Rasha Abu Eid

On Wednesday, 11 May 2022, the Faculty of Supporting Medical Sciences at Al-Ahliyya Amman University hosted Dr. Rasha Abu Eid of the University of Aberdeen, Scotland, UK where She gave an interesting scientific lecture to the audience about her research journey, and the latest results of the scientific studies she and her research teams have found in the field of cancer.On the sidelines of the lecture, Dr. Mohammed Al-Tanani, Dean of the Faculty of Supporting Medical Sciences/ Director of the Center for Pharmaceutical and Diagnostic Research, hosted Dr. Abu Eid in his office and discussed ways to enrich research cooperation. Dr. Al-Tanani accompanied Dr. Abu Eid on a tour of the Center for Pharmaceutical and Diagnostic Research at Al-Ahliyya Amman University, accompanied by Dr. Hamdi Nasairat, where the latest research devices unique to the Center for Pharmaceutical and Diagnostic Research at the University were displayed, which would help increase opportunities for research cooperation between the University and distinguished scientists such as Dr. Abu Eid. The tour was concluded by meeting with Prof. Dr. Anas Al Saud, Assistant President for Foreign Affairs at the Global Engagement Center and discussing ways of cooperation in the field of academic and scientific exchange and promotion of joint scientific research. Dr. Zeina Alami, Associate Professor in the Department of Laboratory Medical Sciences, said the lecture is one of a series of lectures aimed at sharing knowledge and expertise which she has been coordinating at the behest of the Dean of the Faculty. Those scientific research lectures are held on Wednesday of each week, and host scientists from within Al-Ahliyya Amman University, sister universities and international universities, to expand the horizons of scientific research among faculty members and graduate students in the Faculty of Supporting Medical Sciences, as well as to enhance research cooperation between local and international scientific authorities. It is worth mentioning that Dr. Rasha Abu Eid is an Associate Professor of Oral Sciences at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland, UK, and holds a Bachelor Degree in Medicine and Oral and Dental Surgery from the University of Jordan, a PhD in Oral Diseases from the University of Birmingham, UK, and a Diploma in Higher Education from the University of Aberdeen, UK. She is also a fellow member of the British Academy of Higher Education, a member of the British Society of Immunology, a member of the Scottish Society of Cellular Measurements, a member of the British and Irish Society of Pathology, and a member of the British Society of Dental Basic Sciences Teachers. She has won a number of awards in scientific research and a number of research grants in oral cancer research and cancer immunotherapy. She has held several academic and research positions in Jordan, USA, UK and Scotland. The research group, led by Dr. Abu Eid, focuses on head, neck and mouth cancers, digital pathology applications, cancer immunotherapy, as well as dental education. It includes a group of graduate students at the master's and doctoral levels as well as graduate students from bachelor's degrees in medicine, dentistry and immunology. At the end of the visit, Dr. Mohammed Al-Tanani, Dean of the Faculty of Supporting Medical Sciences, presented Dr. Rasha Abu Eid with a certificate of appreciation and the university shield.
