Faculty of Law at AAU Visits the National Center for Human Rights

A delegation of students from the Faculty of Law at Al-Ahliyya Amman University visited the National Center for Human Rights, accompanied by the Vice Dean Dr. Khaled Al-Hrayrat, and the instructors of International Law and Human Rights, Dr. Amal Al-Rfou’, and International Humanitarian Law, Lecturer Basma Al-Awamleh. During the visit, His Excellency Mr. Jamal Al-Shamaila, the Commissioner General for Human Rights, delivered an introductory lecture on the Center’s role in monitoring the human rights situation in the Kingdom, the operational mechanisms employed, and the challenges facing the human rights system both nationally and internationally. The Protection Commissioner discussed the Center’s efforts in monitoring human rights across various fields within its mandate and following up on complaints in coordination with relevant authorities. The Director of the Awareness and Human Rights Culture Unit highlighted the awareness and training programs implemented by the Center, emphasizing the importance of building a culture of human rights within society, especially among youth and students. The law students expressed great interest in the Center’s practical experience, raising numerous questions and engaging in discussions that enriched the meeting. They emphasized the importance of such visits in bridging theoretical knowledge with practical application in the field of human rights. This visit aligns with the Faculty’s vision of integrating theoretical sciences with practical aspects and strengthening partnership with the National Center for Human Rights in promoting human rights culture and building a generation aware of justice and human dignity issues.
