Dr. Anan Abu-Mariam from the AAU’s Special Education Department Participates in A Debate on the Political and Democratic Empowerment of Disabled Women

Dr. Anan abu-Mariam from the AAU’s Department of Special Education was invited by ‘I am a Human’ Society for the Rights of Disabled People to participate in a debate on “Political and Democratic Empowerment of Disabled Women-“I am nashmiyya and it is my right to be among you”. This debate which was held under the patronage of His Excellency Prince Mire’d Bin Ra’ad, the Supreme Council President for the Rights of People with Disabilities took place on Tuesday, 28/11/2017 in the Land Mark Hotel. His Excellency stressed that the Rights of the Disabled People Act of 2017 is a distinct addition to this area. In addition, the Supreme Council focuses on a set of plans for the most important topics such as inclusive education, independent living, environmental facilities, diagnosis issues and the ID card of the people with disabilities. The debate which included an open dialogue between the participants and the attendees aimed to focus on a group of targeted issues to empower the disabled women and to shed light on the obstacles that they may face in society.
