An introductory session on Al-Hussein bin Abdullah II Award for Voluntary Work at Al-Ahliyya Amman University

The Higher Committee for Activities and Community Service, in cooperation with the Deanship of Student Affairs and the Ministry of Youth, organized an introductory seminar for university students about Al-Hussein bin Abdullah II Award for Voluntary Work on Tuesday, 17 Jan 2023 at the auditorium of Al-Hourani E-Learning Center, amid a distinguished presence of students where the President of the University, Prof. Dr. Sari Hamdan, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Dr. Maher Al-Hourani, received the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Youth, Hussein Al-Jbour, in the presence of the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Mustafa Al-Atiyat. During the meeting, Al-Jbour stressed that the Al-Hussein bin Abdullah II Award for Voluntary Work aims to encourage citizens to carry out volunteer work and to excel in volunteer work in a way that contributes to community service, in addition to honoring individuals and institutions based on distinguished volunteer work that has a positive impact on the sustainable development process, indicating that the award targets the categories of individual, collective and institutional volunteer work. For his part, Prof. Dr. Sari Hamdan stressed the keenness of Al-Ahliyya Amman University to promote the concept of institutional volunteer work among its students in order to refine the students’ personality and consolidate the values of volunteer work among Jordanian youth, as the university recorded 160 volunteer work for students during the past year, which indicates the interest of students in the award for its important role in institutionalizing volunteer work and organizing volunteer efforts, calling on young people to register and participate through the award's official website. Dr. Omar Al-Hindawi, Chairman of the Jury and member of the Board of Directors of the Award, spoke in the presence of the Assistant Secretary-General of the Ministry, Dr. Majid Osaila, and members of the Award Management Committee, about the Award's vision, mission, objectives and general principles, in addition to addressing the philosophy and foundations of the Award, which depend on appreciation, motivation and good leadership. Al-Hindawi also stressed that the award is granted to collective, institutional and individual volunteer work and includes several areas, the most important of which are the social, health, educational, sports, artistic and cultural, environmental and tourism fields, and entrepreneurship and innovation, which are evaluated in four stages. It is worth noting that this award was launched by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al-Hussein bin Abdullah II on the 5th of December 2021 during the celebration of the International Volunteer Day, with the aim of motivating the efforts of individuals and institutions and promoting a culture of distinguished volunteer work to serve the community by building a national award specialized for volunteer work.
