Amman Al-Ahliyya University Organizes Scientific Day Marking World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought, with Participation of National Figures and Specialized Institutions

The Faculty of Agricultural Technology at Amman Al-Ahliyya University, in collaboration with the Jordanian Society for Combating Desertification and Developing the Badia, organized a special Scientific Day on the occasion of the 2025 World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought. The event was attended by a distinguished group of ministers, experts, and representatives from various government entities and public and private community organizations. Notable participants included: • H.E. Dr. Akef Al-Zoubi • H.E. Dr. Mahmoud Al-Duwairi • Eng. Ayman Al-Ouran, Assistant Secretary-General for Plant Wealth at the Ministry of Agriculture • Dr. Fadel Al-Zoubi, International Expert Alongside a number of specialists and stakeholders in environmental and sustainable development issues. In his opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Sari Hamdan, President of Amman Al-Ahliyya University, emphasized the university's strong commitment to addressing pressing environmental and developmental challenges that impact the nation’s present and the future of its generations. He noted that organizing such events aligns with the university’s vision and mission to promote social responsibility and support applied scientific research on national issues. He added, “Through these scientific gatherings, we aim to build fruitful partnerships with national and international institutions, contributing to the fight against desertification and drought, while supporting efforts to achieve food security and environmental sustainability.” Dr. Hamdan also extended his sincere thanks and appreciation to all participants and supporters of this Scientific Day, praising the efforts of the Faculty of Agricultural Technology in organizing this distinguished event. For her part, Dr. Rasha, Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural Technology, welcomed the attendees and expressed her gratitude for their active contribution to the success of the event. She affirmed the faculty’s strong commitment to serving the local community and addressing national calls—especially through research and scientific projects that respond to current challenges and support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Participants and attendees expressed their deep appreciation to Amman Al-Ahliyya University and the Faculty of Agricultural Technology for organizing this specialized scientific event, which provided an intellectual and knowledge-based platform for presenting visions and solutions to the problems of desertification and drought.
