Al-Ahliyya Amman University Ranks First in Jordan in Artificial Intelligence and Electrical & Electronic Engineering in the 2026 ShanghaiRanking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects

Al-Ahliyya Amman University has achieved a notable international accomplishment in the 2026 edition of the ShanghaiRanking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects, ranking among the 301–400 best universities worldwide in both Artificial Intelligence and Electrical & Electronic Engineering. The University ranked first among Jordanian universities in both subjects and was also among the leading Jordanian private universities in terms of the number of subjects ranked. This achievement is particularly significant given the highly competitive nature of both fields internationally and their central role in the technological transformations shaping the world today. The results reflect the quality of scientific research at the University, the excellence of its academic faculty, and the growing breadth of its research collaborations and academic partnerships. Dr. Maher Al-Hourani, Chairman of the Board of Directors, said, “This achievement is the result of the University’s vision of investing in scientific research and building capacities in the fields of the future. It is part of an integrated plan being implemented by the University to strengthen its position in global rankings. The Board of Directors will continue to support this journey as we work towards achieving a stronger international standing.” Acting University President, Professor Dr. Ahmad Hamdan, said, “This result reflects the University’s commitment to high-quality research in advanced engineering and technological disciplines. At the same time, it sends a message of confidence to our students that they belong to a university capable of competing internationally and preparing them to become among the leading high achievers in their fields. We are currently working to expand our presence to include additional subjects in future editions of the ranking, and we have the capabilities needed to achieve this.” It is worth noting that, in the latest QS World University Rankings 2027, Al-Ahliyya Amman University ranked 643rd worldwide. The University also ranked first among Jordanian universities in the Times Higher Education rankings, placing within the 401–500 range globally.
