Al-Ahliyya Amman University participates in the Conference on Social Protection and Civil Society Institutions
On behalf of Al-Ahliyya Amman University, students of the Department of Special Education under the supervision of Dr. Anan Abu Maryam participated in the Conference on Social Protection and Civil Society Institutions held at the Al Hussein Cultural Center on Tuesday, 17 Jan 2023.
The conference was organized by Expertise France and the Social Protection Empowerment Project funded by the European Union under the patronage of Her Excellency the Minister of Social Development, Ms. Wafa Bani Mustafa, and which was attended by Her Excellency the Ambassador of the Delegation of the European Union to Jordan, Ms. Maria Hadjitheodosio, and the Regional Coordinator for the Middle East at Expertise France Mrs. Claire Lotier, H.E. Member of the Senate ,Asia Yaghi, a representative of the Greater Amman Municipality and a large group of researchers and those interested in the field of social protection, special education and the rights of people with disabilities.
The conference included a presentation of the national social protection strategy, a video explaining the contribution of civil society institutions to social protection, a dialogue session on the role of civil society institutions in social protection/the national strategy for social protection, as well as two sets of workshops, the first of which specialized in building on examples of partnerships between civil society institutions and the second workshop focused on common values and principles. The conference concluded with a session of reports, outputs, closing speeches and the launch of the communication challenge.
Dr. Anan Abu Maryam - Head of the Department of Special Education stressed that participation in this conference comes as part of the vision of the department and the faculty aimed at keeping pace with everything that is modern and new, developing students' skills, actively participating in community development and promoting social responsibility as well. Furthermore, Dr. Anan stressed that these participations contribute to producing and graduating a group of qualified and distinguished students in extracurricular activities in the field of special education.
