Al-Ahliyya Amman University Participates and Sponsors the 10th Jordanian Optics Conference

The 10th Jordanian Optics Conference (JO-VISION 2025) was recently held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel – Dead Sea, under the patronage of His Excellency Khalil Al-Haj Tawfiq, President of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce and the Amman Chamber of Commerce. Al-Ahliyya Amman University participated prominently in the conference, represented by the Department of Optometry at the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences. The university collaborated in organizing the event alongside the Jordanian Association of Optometrists, the General Syndicate of Jordanian Optometry Professions, and the Jordan University of Science and Technology. The conference witnessed the participation of forty researchers from Arab and international countries, in addition to Jordanian academics and medical professionals. The university played a key role in sponsoring the event, represented by Prof. Dr. Ghaleb Oraikat, Dean of the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences, who delivered the university’s opening speech on behalf of Prof. Dr. Sari Hamdan, President of the University. He conveyed greetings from Dr. Maher Hourani, Chairman of the Board of Directors, and expressed the university’s pride in the achievements of the Optometry program—being the first of its kind among private universities in the Kingdom. Prof. Oraikat also praised the pioneering role of Dr. Yazan Qumouh, Head of the Optometry Department, in strengthening community partnerships and enhancing ties between the department and local society. He highlighted the active role of the General Syndicate of Jordanian Optometry Professions during the establishment phase of the department, especially in consultation with employers and facilitating bridging programs for diploma holders in optometry. He further noted the contribution of the Jordanian Association of Optometrists through a cooperation agreement with the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences’ Optometry Department to attract students, provide training opportunities, and organize scientific activities, culminating in the organization of this conference. Several administrative staff and students from the Optometry Department contributed to the conference’s organization and reception committees, adding a professional and polished atmosphere to the event. Academic staff members Dr. Yazan Qumouh and Dr. Baha’ Al-Deen Jabr delivered a series of valuable scientific lectures covering topics such as the department’s role in community service and the latest advances in myopia management. Additionally, two optometry students presented their research papers. The university facilitated attendance by providing transportation buses to and from the conference venue for students and interested attendees. The 10th Jordanian Optics Conference served as an effective platform for exchanging scientific knowledge and expertise in the field of optometry. Through its active participation, Al-Ahliyya Amman University demonstrated a model of excellence in supporting scientific initiatives and reinforcing the role of higher education institutions in serving the academic and professional community—advancing visions of progress and development across diverse fields. At the conclusion of the event, Prof. Dr. Ghaleb Oraikat, Dean of the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences, received the conference shield from the Jordanian Association of Optometrists.
