Al-Ahliyya Amman University organizes a lecture entitled “Strengthening the Nutrients of Cassava Roots”
Within the extracurricular activities organized by Al-Ahliyya Amman University, the Faculty of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences hosted Dr. Mohamed Kamel Jabri to give a lecture entitled “Strengthening the Nutrients of Cassava Roots”. Dr. Jabri addressed modern biotechnology means in enhancing the nutrients roots of cassava plant known as tapioca. This plant is one of the most important agricultural crops in Africa and tropical regions, but it suffers from a major problem; namely it contains cyanide in its leaves and roots causing malnutrition and diseases such as Kwashiorkor. Cyanide contained in the plant was reduced, carotene rates were increased, and a group of irons were produced using modern biotechnology means. Dr. Mohammed Jabri worked at the University of Missouri in the United States and has several specialized scientific research in the field of biotechnology. At the end of the lecture, Dr. Jabri answered inquiries related to the subject of the lecture.
