Al-Ahliyya Amman University Launches Community Outreach Campaign “Water Reuse for a Sustainable Future” (2023–2024)

As part of its commitment to promoting sustainable environmental practices and raising awareness on the importance of conserving natural resources, Al-Ahliyya Amman University launched a wide-ranging community outreach campaign during 2023–2024 titled “Water Reuse for a Sustainable Future”, led by the Sustainability and International Ranking Center. The campaign aimed to enhance both campus and community understanding of the significance of treated wastewater reuse and its role in supporting effective water resource management. The initiative featured awareness materials, along with on-campus exhibitions, which provided clear and practical explanations of water reuse processes and their direct benefits in reducing water waste and promoting sustainability. The campaign also focused on encouraging behavioral change related to water use and strengthening a culture of responsible consumption. Through engagement with students, staff, local communities, and partner institutions, the initiative expanded the impact of AAU’s wastewater and water sustainability efforts beyond campus boundaries. This initiative aligns closely with Sustainable Development Goal 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), reinforcing the university’s role as a leading educational institution in advancing environmental awareness and promoting sustainable resource management within society. The university administration emphasized that this campaign represents a key milestone in AAU’s mission to expand sustainability culture and encourage community participation in protecting natural resources, reflecting the university’s vision of building a more conscious and environmentally responsible society.
