Al-Ahliyya Amman University Implements the “Reuse for Sustainability” Awareness and Training Program to Promote Responsible Water Use
As part of its ongoing efforts to expand environmental awareness and strengthen sustainability culture across campus, the Sustainability and International Ranking Center at Al-Ahliyya Amman University organized an educational and training program titled “Reuse for Sustainability.” The program targeted groups of students as well as administrative and academic staff.
The initiative included a series of interactive workshops and scientific sessions focusing on safe water reuse practices and the importance of closing the water cycle by redirecting treated water for irrigation and reducing unnecessary waste. The workshops provided practical demonstrations and simplified explanations on how to optimize water use both on campus and in daily life.
The program aimed to reinforce positive behavioral change related to water consumption and increase community engagement in adopting sustainable practices. It also contributed to raising awareness about the importance of responsible water management and its role in preserving natural resources.
The University administration emphasized that the “Reuse for Sustainability” initiative aligns with AAU’s strategy to support Sustainable Development Goal 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) by equipping students and staff with the knowledge and skills needed to promote responsible water use across the university community.
