Al-Ahliyya Amman University Honors Winners of the Eighth Late Dr. Ahmad Al-Hourani Qur’an Recitation Award for Jordanian University Students

Under the patronage of the President of Al-Ahliyya Amman University, Professor Sari Hamdan, the Deanship of Student Affairs organized a ceremony to honor the winners of the Eighth Late Dr. Ahmad Al-Hourani Award for Qur’an Recitation and Mastery for Jordanian university students. The ceremony was held at Al-Hourani Auditorium on Thursday, March 12, 2026, in the presence of several academics, students, and representatives of participating universities. The award, which bears the name of the university’s late founder, Dr. Ahmad Al-Hourani, reflects the university’s mission to support religious and humanitarian values, strengthen university students’ connection with the Holy Qur’an, and encourage them to master Qur’an recitation and the rules of Tajweed. It is held in a competitive environment that reflects commitment and excellence among students of Jordanian universities. During the ceremony, the University President, in the presence of the Dean of Student Affairs, Professor Mustafa Al-Atiyyat, honored the members of the judging committee in recognition of their efforts in ensuring the success of the award. The committee included Professor Abdul Hamid Al-Kurdi, the general supervisor of the award; Dr. Asmaa Al-Omari and instructor Mohammad Haboub from Al-Ahliyya Amman University; and Dr. Amal Al-Naimat from the University of Jordan. In the male students’ competition, Mazen Odetallah Al-Hadidi from the University of Jordan won first place and received a prize of 500 Jordanian dinars. Mohammad Fayadh bin Fawzi from the World Islamic Sciences and Education University came second and received 350 dinars, while Youssef Ali from Jerash University placed third and received 200 dinars. In the female students’ competition, Maryam Abdul Karim Aslimieh from Amman Arab University won first place and received 500 dinars. Fatima Ayman Hussein from the World Islamic Sciences and Education University came second with a prize of 350 dinars, while Toulin Mahmoud Al-Nakhateen from the University of Jordan secured third place and received 200 dinars. The eighth edition of the award witnessed the participation of 18 public and private Jordanian universities in addition to Al-Ahliyya Amman University, namely: the University of Jordan, Al-Balqa Applied University, Al Al-Bayt University, Middle East University, Philadelphia University, Al-Hussein Bin Talal University, Jadara University, Al-Zaytoonah University of Jordan, Petra University, Zarqa University, Al-Hussein Technical University, Jerash University, Ajloun National University, the World Islamic Sciences and Education University, Tafila Technical University, Irbid National University, and Amman Arab University. This participation reflects the growing interest among university students in memorizing the Holy Qur’an and mastering its recitation. The university affirmed that this award continues to strengthen its position as one of the distinguished cultural and religious initiatives among Jordanian universities, highlighting talented youth in Qur’an recitation and reinforcing faith-based values within the university community.
