Al-Ahliyya Amman University Expands Treated Water Irrigation Network to Support Green Spaces and Enhance Sustainability
As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen environmental sustainability and improve water resource management, Al-Ahliyya Amman University announced the implementation of a major project to expand the treated water irrigation network across the campus. The expansion included extending new pipelines to serve newly landscaped areas and sports zones, ensuring that these spaces are fully irrigated using treated and reused water.
This development has significantly reduced the university’s reliance on municipal water sources, while reinforcing its commitment to conserving fresh water and adopting sustainable resource management practices. The project has also enhanced the quality and coverage of the campus’s green spaces, supporting ongoing landscaping and beautification efforts.
The University administration emphasized that this project represents an important milestone in strengthening AAU’s environmental infrastructure and aligns with several strategic initiatives aimed at improving natural resource efficiency. The expansion directly supports Sustainable Development Goal 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) by promoting water reuse and maximizing the benefits of treated water across the campus.
The university added that expanding the treated water irrigation network serves as a practical model for sustainable solutions, contributing directly to the enhancement of campus greenery and fostering a healthy and welcoming university environment.
