Al-Ahliyya Amman University Enhances Its On-Campus Wastewater Treatment Plant in 2025 to Promote Environmental Sustainability

As part of its ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability and efficient water resource management, Al-Ahliyya Amman University implemented in 2025 a significant project to enhance its on-campus wastewater treatment plant. The project included the installation of additional filtration and aeration units to increase the plant’s operational capacity and improve the quality of treated water in line with modern environmental standards. This development aims to improve the quality of reclaimed water used for irrigating green spaces across the campus, thereby reducing the consumption of fresh water and minimizing environmental impacts resulting from untreated discharge. The initiative represents a key step in the university’s comprehensive sustainability strategy and contributes directly to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), specifically focusing on improving water quality and reducing pollution from wastewater. The university’s administration emphasized that this achievement is part of a broader series of environmental initiatives implemented by Al-Ahliyya Amman University in the areas of water, energy, and waste management, reaffirming its position as one of the leading green universities in Jordan and the region.
