Within the framework of Al-Ahliyya Amman University's keenness to support scientific research, innovation and creativity, a memorandum of understanding was signed on Wednesday, 11 Jan 2023, between the university, represented by its president, Prof. Dr. Sari Hamdan, and the National Center for Innovation - of the Supreme Council for Science and Technology - represented by its president, Dr. Hossam Khasawneh, and in the presence of the Vice President for International Relations and Quality Affairs, Prof. Dr. Anas Al-Saud, the Director of Information Technology at the Center, Mr. Hassan Muhammad Al-Zu'bi, and the Director of Marketing, Mr. Saeed Nazmi Al Saeed. The agreement aims to adopt the Jordan Open Innovation Platform (JOIP) as an official platform for gathering scientific research, creativity and innovation activities, and as a national platform for researchers as an alternative to the national database of Jordanian researchers owned by the Higher Council for Science and Technology. This agreement comes in line with the decision of the Higher Education Council to adopt the Jordan Open Innovation Platform (JOIP) as an official reference for Jordanian universities, faculty members, researchers and entrepreneurs, as the platform provides its services in a unique way that simulates social networking sites to collect all the activities of the scientific research, creativity and entrepreneurship system in Jordan and provide them with documented and reliable information through its electronic link to global databases such as ORCID, RingGold and Crossref. Furthermore, this agreement comes as a confirmation of cooperation between the Center and the University in the fields of scientific research, creativity, and innovation. Prof. Dr. Sari Hamdan, President of Al-Ahliyya Amman University, stressed the national role of the National Center for Innovation as the national umbrella for the Jordanian innovation system, and added that the adoption of the Jordan Open Innovation Platform (JOIP) is a step in the right direction to serve the Jordanian scientific research, creativity and innovation system with its services, features and characteristics to enable stakeholders in the system to discover creativity, especially since it is linked to global databases such as ORCID. He also expressed the university's commitment to cooperate and serve the Jordanian scientific research and innovation system with its capabilities, expertise and educational and research outputs. For his part, Dr. Hussam Khasawneh, President of the National Center for Innovation, praised the role played by Al-Ahliyya Amman University in supporting the system of scientific research, entrepreneurship and innovation and being one of the first universities that took the initiative to sign the memorandum of understanding to adopt the Jordan Open Innovation Platform (JOIP) because of its importance in networking between stakeholders in the system, and publishing the works of Jordanian researchers and innovators to share knowledge. Furthermore, he praised the high level of educational and scientific research outcomes of Al-Ahliyya Amman University and its leading role in encouraging creativity and innovation among its students.
