Al-Ahliyya Amman University and Jordanian Dairy Company “Maha” Sign Agreement with University of Petra to Develop Innovative Dairy Product for Digestive Health

Al-Ahliyya Amman University and the Jordanian Dairy Company “Maha” have signed a collaborative applied research agreement with the University of Petra to develop an innovative dairy product that promotes digestive health. The product aims to supply the body—specifically the colon—with beneficial probiotics, thereby protecting the digestive system from various diseases. Researchers emphasized that the innovation lies in the product's ability to safeguard these beneficial bacteria and deliver them effectively to the colon, bypassing harmful factors such as the stomach's acidic environment, digestive enzymes in the intestines, and bile secretions. The agreement was signed by Prof. Sari Hamdan, President of Al-Ahliyya Amman University; Eng. Ghazi Jaber, General Manager of the Jordanian Dairy Company “Maha”; and Prof. Rami Abdel Rahim, President of the University of Petra. The signing ceremony was attended by Prof. Adnan Badran, Chancellor of the University of Petra, and Dr. Maher Al-Hourani, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al-Ahliyya Amman University and the Jordanian Dairy Company “Maha.” Also present from Al-Ahliyya Amman University were Prof. Ghaleb Ariqat, Dean of the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences, and Dr. Mohammad Al-Malkawi, faculty member at the same college. Representing the Jordanian Dairy Company were Mr. Ahmad Al-Hourani, Deputy General Manager, and Mr. Marwan Hanoun, Chief Financial Officer. From the University of Petra, attendees included Dr. Kenza Mansour, Assistant to the President for Agreements and International Cooperation; Mr. Samer Al-Tayyeb, General Manager of Petra Education Company; Prof. Faisal Abu Rubb, Dean of Scientific Research; Prof. Nasser Edkidak, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy; and Mr. Alaa Al-Arabiat, Director of Public Relations.
