AAU Participates in and Sponsors the 11th Hearing and Balance Health Conference 2025

Al-Ahliyya Amman University recently participated in and contributed as a sponsor to the 11th Hearing and Balance Health Conference 2025, organized in collaboration with the Arab Academy of Hearing and Balance and Lübeck University in Germany, under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Muna Al-Hussein. The university was represented at the conference by Prof. Dr. Ahmad Hamdan, Vice President and Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, on behalf of Prof. Sari Hamdan, President of the University. In his speech, Prof. Hamdan reaffirmed the university’s ongoing support for this conference, now in its eleventh consecutive year. He conveyed greetings from Dr. Maher Hourani, Chairman of the Board of Directors, and Prof. Dr. Sari Hamdan, President of the University, along with their best wishes for the success of the conference and a warm welcome to participants from various Arab and international countries. Prof. Hamdan also highlighted AAU’s pioneering role in launching the Audiology and Speech Pathology program in 2002, which has significantly evolved over the years. He noted the introduction of the Master’s program in Audiology Sciences and the Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology and Communication Disorders, the first programs of their kind in the Arab world. He emphasized the university’s social impact through its Hearing and Speech Center, inaugurated in 2005, which has provided free diagnostic and therapeutic services to over 30,000 beneficiaries, including local community members, residents, and refugees—particularly children. Services include speech and language evaluations, hearing and balance assessments, and free hearing aid fittings for those unable to afford treatment. As part of AAU’s active participation in the conference sessions and workshops: • Dr. Fadi Al-Swaiti, Head of the Audiology and Speech Pathology Department and member of the scientific committee, delivered a workshop titled “Videofluoroscopic Swallowing Evaluation.” • Dr. Mohammad Al-Masri, Head of the Audiology and Balance Department, Secretary-General of the Arab Academy of Hearing and Balance, and a key organizer of the conference, presented a paper titled “Balance Rehabilitation in the Treatment of Inner Ear Concussion-induced Dizziness.” • Dr. Zeidan Al-Khamayseh, from the same department, conducted a specialized workshop on “Voice Restoration Techniques Post-Laryngectomy.” • Leila Kanawati, Head of the Speech and Language Therapy Section, and instructor Rama Al-Aseer, presented a paper titled “Awareness Level of Ear Health and Hearing Loss in Jordan,” published in a reputable journal. Notably, students from both undergraduate and master’s programs in the Audiology and Speech Pathology Department made significant contributions. Master's students in audiology presented distinguished scientific posters, while two students from the master’s program in communication disorders presented a research paper titled “Implicit Correlation in Language and Speech Therapy Practice.” The conference served as a vibrant scientific platform for the exchange of knowledge and expertise across various fields, including hearing, balance, speech, language, swallowing disorders, and ENT (ear, nose, and throat) specialties. It featured participation from 38 countries across the United States, Europe, Asia, and the Arab world, with 198 research papers presented and 14 specialized workshops held over the course of four days. The university was honored with a commemorative shield, received by Prof. Dr. Ghaleb Oraikat, Dean of the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences, on behalf of the University President. Through its active and distinguished participation, Al-Ahliyya Amman University reaffirmed its leading role in supporting scientific initiatives and strengthening the contribution of higher education institutions to the professional and academic communities—advancing progress across vital sectors.
