AAU Nursing Department Celebrates International Nurses Day with Awareness and Humanitarian Activities
In celebration of International Nurses Day, the Faculty of Nursing at AAU organized a series of distinguished events reflecting its commitment to its humanitarian and community mission. The activities featured active participation from the Dean of the Faculty, academic and administrative staff, and students.
The celebration began with an awareness campaign titled “Health Pulse from the Heart of Nursing” in collaboration with the “Nabd” Club. Nursing students visited the university president, Professor Sari Hamdan, at the start of the event, which targeted students and staff of Al-Ahliyya Amman University. The campaign included distribution of informative brochures about proper nutrition and the importance of physical activity, alongside vital signs measurement services (blood pressure, blood sugar level, weight, height, and BMI). The event also featured an interactive health quiz with symbolic prizes for participants, and a humanitarian activity where students expressed their gratitude towards their faculty and the nursing profession by writing thank-you notes and messages of support for nurses.
In addition, the Women’s Health Center organized a visit to the Samir Shamma Elderly Care Home under the supervision of Dr. Mona Al-Nassour and nursing students. The visit included memory activation exercises aimed at improving the mental health of the elderly, emphasizing the humanitarian dimension and societal impact of the nursing profession.
Furthermore, Dean of the Faculty, Professor Iman Al-Nazly, along with several faculty members, participated in the First Scientific Day of the Faculty of Nursing at the Middle East University, held under the theme “Future Directions in Nursing Education and Practice: Enhancing Competency-Based Perspectives.” During this event, Dr. Muhannad Al-Daqs presented a scientific paper titled:
“Transforming Clinical Nursing Education Online: Lessons from COVID-19 and Future Prospects with AI Integration,”
which highlighted the digital transformation in clinical nursing education and the role of artificial intelligence in its development.
