AAU Hosts EU Programme Manager for School and Higher Education in Jordan
The President of Al-Ahliyya Amman University, Professor Sari Hamdan, received Mr. Fabian Schaefer, Attaché and Programme Manager for School and Higher Education at the European Union in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The visit aimed to strengthen joint cooperation in academic and research fields and to promote knowledge exchange between the university and European institutions.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Firouz Abu Suilam, Director of the Global Engagement Center, and Lecturer Reem Al-Abed, Head of International Communication and Partnerships at the Center. Discussions focused on future partnership opportunities and student and academic exchange programs supported by the European Commission.
Professor Sari Hamdan welcomed the European partner and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to expanding its international collaborations and enhancing its participation in prestigious European programs such as Erasmus+, which contribute to improving educational outcomes and equipping students with global experience. He also commended the European Union’s efforts in supporting higher education and scientific research in the Middle East.
For his part, Fabian Schaefer expressed his admiration for the advanced level achieved by the university in terms of infrastructure and academic programs, noting that the visit represents an initial step toward strategic partnerships that can be translated into tangible projects benefiting both students and faculty members.
On the sidelines of the meeting, the guest toured the university’s facilities, including the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management, the Arena Sports Complex, the Faculty of Agricultural Technology, the Faculty of Dentistry, and the Faculty of Engineering. The tour showcased modern facilities and advanced laboratories that support the educational process and enhance graduates’ readiness for the labor market.
