AAU Engineering Students Win Third Place in Jordanian Universities Water Competition
As part of the 7th Arab Water Week Conference, one of the region’s most prominent events focused on water issues, a team of second-year students from the Department of Civil Engineering at Al-Ahliyya Amman University secured third place in the Jordanian Universities Water Competition, which featured wide participation from teams representing various Jordanian universities.
The team—comprising Shahd Khraisat, Joud Al-Nsour, and Abdulrahman Al-Rifai—presented a scientific project titled:
"Surface Water Quality Degradation: An Analysis of Salinity and Key Pollutants"
The project addressed the degradation of surface water quality by evaluating salinity
levels and key pollutants. It proposed an engineering framework to calculate risk factors in dam water.
The judging panel praised the project for its scientific originality, practical relevance, and contribution to water resource management in Jordan.
The project was supervised by Dr. Takwa Al-Hadidi and Eng. Tareq Khraisat, as part of the department’s ongoing efforts to connect engineering education with practical application and to encourage student innovation in the fields of water and sustainability.
