A Seminar on National Security Friends at AAU on Community Security
A seminar titled "Community Security: Between Reality and Challenges" was held at Al-Ahliyya Amman University, organized by the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and the Deanship of Student Affairs in partnership with the National Security Friends Foundation and the "Sons of the Kingdom" association.
The seminar, which took place in Mahmoud Darwish Auditorium at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, was attended by a large number of students and members of both the administrative and academic staff.
The seminar began with the national anthem, and then the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Prof. Hanan Ibrahim, welcomed the guests and attendees. She highlighted the university’s commitment to organizing awareness activities on issues that benefit students, which in turn have a positive impact on them and their surrounding community.
The event coordinator, Prof. Sawsan Badrakhan, a faculty member at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, emphasized that awareness on community security is essential across various segments of society, particularly among youth. She stressed the importance of collaboration between institutions and individuals to spread this awareness, as it greatly benefits the nation, starting from the family.
In his address, the General Director of the National Security Friends Foundation, Ashraf Al-Kilani, discussed community security as a fundamental pillar of comprehensive national security. He elaborated on the role of citizens and their partnership in the security system through cooperation with security agencies, including contacting the emergency number 911 if they observe anything suspicious that might threaten the nation's security and safety.
Al-Kilani emphasized that Jordan is a state of law and institutions, and the dignity of its citizens and residents is protected. He highlighted the importance of citizens having security and legal awareness to avoid falling into risks and becoming victims of saboteurs and criminals.
He also noted that security awareness has become a crucial requirement for citizens, especially young people, as it directly contributes to fighting all types of crime.
Security expert and media psychology specialist Dr. Saleem Sharif presented the importance of the educational aspect in protecting community security by nurturing a responsible, aware generation.
Dr. Sharif pointed out that the professionalism and high readiness of security agencies, coupled with the awareness of Jordanian citizens, played a significant role in Jordan’s resilience in the face of various security challenges.
At the conclusion of the seminar, the speakers answered questions and inquiries from the audience, and the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences honored the speakers by presenting them with the university’s appreciation shields.
