A Lecture Entitled “Evaluation of Balance Disorders and Dizziness by Using Ultrasound Examination of the Cochlea and by electronystagmography”

The Faculty of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences is keen on organizing specialized lectures for its students and the University students at large and for anyone interested in Hearing and Speech Science. In this vein, a lecture entitled “Evaluation of Balance Disorders and Dizziness by Using Ultrasound Examination of the Cochlea and by electronystagmography” was given by Professor Mazouni from Columbia University/ USA on Thursday Oct. 27, 2011 at 10 a.m. at Al-Hourani Center for E-learning. Professor Inam Khalaf, the Vice-President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Ghaleb Oreiqat, the Dean of the College of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences, and a number of faculty members attended the lecture. Professor Mazouni covered different cases of balance disorders and the dizziness which accompanies them, focusing on how to diagnose them, and how to test them by using ultrasound examination and electronystagmography according to the most recent techniques in this field. Then, the forum was open for questions from the audience, mainly regarding the difference between the modern methods and the other classical ones in examining internal ear and balance, and some practical cases were discussed as well. Then, Professor Mazouni took a tour of the Hearing and Speech Center at the University and commended the advanced level which Al-Ahliyya Amman University has achieved.
