Our Humanity Unites Us 2023

About the Award Theme

Human values unite people everywhere. Values are the shared qualities that affirm our presence and existence in this world. These qualities bring us together regardless of our different origins, beliefs, and affiliations. Within this unity, cultural, intellectual, and civilizational diversity emerges, giving each person privacy, uniqueness, authenticity, and distinction.

The system of values forms an integrated fabric made up of concepts and principles such as honesty, sacrifice, generosity, love, courage, compassion, belonging, citizenship, integrity, responsibility, and respect. In light of the great openness we live in today, we can emphasize our values so that they become visible, shared, and communicated with the whole world.

It is an invitation to encourage future generations to recognize these values, develop them, and preserve them so that we may maintain a society that continues to rise and progress.

Art, as a universal language, is capable of creating extended horizons that bring us together and unite us, while also bringing us closer to our humanity and authenticity. Art is also a human value that connects with the system of values through different methods of expression. Based on this concept, the third edition of Al-Hourani Award for Arts and Design was launched under the title “Our Humanity Unites Us.”

The award receives submissions from all students and graduates of Al-Ahliyya Amman University in four main categories: poster design, short video, photography, and drawing.

💬
From the look of hope on children’s faces, the sun of life rises to revive souls that were close to perishing and writes legends that strengthen the meaning of humanity. The sun means hope, and the children’s gaze toward it represents a bright future.
