Our New Reality: Challenges and Creative Opportunities 2022

About the Award Theme

The second edition of Al-Hourani Award for Arts and Design continues the vision and mission of Al-Ahliyya Amman University and the Faculty of Architecture and Design in supporting students and graduates, enhancing creativity and innovation, spreading artistic culture within the social framework, and supporting the energy and potential of young people in this field.

The 2022 edition of the award was launched under the title: “Our New Reality: Challenges and Creative Opportunities.” It aims to understand the new reality imposed by the pandemic on the world and to explore creative opportunities that develop our knowledge and technical skills while keeping pace with the rapid changes that took place during the previous two years.

This theme highlights the importance of raising awareness among young people about the circumstances that affected society across different sectors such as education, health, culture, arts, technology, communication, and social life. Art becomes a supportive link that helps youth understand challenges and discover opportunities that spread awareness and achieve aesthetic and intellectual values.

Art is a vital, active, and important practice. It is part of the daily life we live, and it is a field through which ideas and energies rise to create and develop creative opportunities in all areas.

Students’ Comments About Their Works

The development of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan is represented through the threads of the Jordanian flag’s colors, reflecting that the progress of this homeland began as a small weave formed over the years, and with time it grew larger until we reached today’s prosperity, progress, and brightness.

The painting shows the map of Jordan carved into a rocky cave wall overlooking the capital, Amman, illuminated by the rise of a new dawn. This indicates that Jordan has an engraved mark in the memory of history and a renewed giving that is refreshed with every dawn and every sunrise.
