Volunteer work and community service adopted as graduation requisite for undergraduate (BA) students in Al-Ahliyya Amman University

Based on Al-Ahliyya Amman University deep belief in the importance of volunteerism and community service and in order to ensure its sustainability in the University, Al-Ahliyya Amman University, represented by the Board of Trustees, the Council of the University and the Council of Deans, approved the instructions related to volunteer work and community service at the University. This initiative aims to develop a culture of volunteerism and participation among students, the University and community, enhance and refine students abilities in the field of volunteer work and community service, develop the concept of good citizenship among students, raise their awareness of the community conditions, as well as its members and various sectors, and motivate them to provide appropriate volunteer services.Volunteer work provides students with opportunities to establish positive relationships with members of the community and its various institutions and acquire experience related to volunteerism, public education, and community service. Through this requisite, students will be trained on the concept of leadership, undertaking responsibility, and developing their attitudes and skills to adhere to effective participation. Based on these instructions, volunteer work and community service will be considered as tuition-free mandatory graduation requisite for all undergraduate students in Al-Ahliyya Amman University, as of the start of the academic year 2013-2014.
